4. Being one with the Divine

A reader asked, "Exploration is indeed very good and necessary. What after that? How are you going to experience the Divine? How can you be one with the Divine? How can you be the Divine? Tat Tvam Asi? Shivoham? Brahma Asmi? "

In responding, first, a literal translation from Sanskrit used in this reader’s question:
Tat Tvam Asi = That, thou art
Shivoham = I am Shiva
Brahma Asmi = I am Brahma
While there are differences in philosophies around these statements, each of them roughly represents the notion that there is no difference between the Self and Ultimate Reality (the Divine).

I thought about the reader’s question for a bit -- Saturday mornings are conducive to quiet contemplation.

And, in a moment of enlightenment, I responded – "I feel connected with the Divine every time I see goodness and beauty, and every time I act out of goodness.... to be one with the Divine is a small step from there -- feel that connectedness, and then let go --"

I had heard these statements – Tat Tvam Asi, Shivoham, Brahma Asmi, The observer is the observed… for decades, but I never quite understood them until I experienced it.

Saturday mornings must also be conducive to moments of Nirvana.

So, go out in nature, or sit for a while, watching your thoughts, being totally aware. And, when your mind and body are quiet, and you can sense Nature’s order, take that step – let go, and let yourself dissolve away.

Love and well wishes,
